The History of Fan-C-Dexter
Fan-C Apricot, four-month old dun heifer.
Maureen and Neil McCready have been raising and selling Irish Dexter cattle for ten years. They joined the American Dexter Cattle Association in 1995, when they started out with five cattle. Currently, they keep between 40 - 60 mama cows, and usually have two herd sire bulls.
People from across the nation have bought Fan-C-Dex cattle. The McCreadys have delivered cattle from Texas all the way to Minnesota. During an average year, they sell about 40 Dexters.
Dexters are often called "dual-purpose" cattle, good for milk or beef. They have a gentle temperment, and are very good for small tracts of land. They are tame and very calm around people. They can be weaned at an early age, and are ready for breeding before they are one year old.
